“With the end of empire, we are coming to an end of the epoch of rights. We have entered the epoch of responsibilities, which requires new, more socially-minded human beings and new, more participatory and place-based concepts of citizenship and democracy”

– Grace Lee Boggs

Dear Community,

The quote above by our beloved civil rights and labor visionary activist, Grace Lee Boggs, depicts our current political climate. We are experiencing what some have termed as backlash due to gains fought and won over the last six decades. These gains include the right to vote, access to reproductive health, quality public education for all and a shared commitment to protect those who are most vulnerable among us such as immigrants/refugees, those facing food and housing insecurity and individuals whose gender identities require our protection. As imperfect as these gains are, they are worth fighting for.  Our work is to also redefine a more inclusive democracy and build it on a solid foundation that cements hard worn rights for generations to come.

In line with Grace Lee Boggs worldview, Crossroads Fund believes that change happens when communities organize to respond, resist, and reimagine a generative future that serves humanity and the planet. Our grantee partners are doing exactly that – organizing with clarity and conviction at a time when the odds are stacked against them

We are proud to share our Fiscal 2025 (FY25) annual report with you. This stewardship report – with information on Crossroads Fund grantmaking, programs, and financial health – highlights our shared power and what solidarity in action looks like. In FY25, we moved $4.29 million to 231 powerful organizations. These numbers tell the story of a realized vision and a collective ability to respond to the immediate needs of our communities while also working towards our collective, liberated future. The annual report is a reflection of the grantee’s courage, the generosity of our donors and the solidarity of the philanthropic community. We collectively demonstrate our power and strength during times that would rather have us retreat and shrink to oblivion. We urge our community to continue resisting, continue being in struggle with us and the grantees that we serve and to continue keeping hope alive.

In Solidarity,

Jane Kimondo
