Lisa Fittko Internship ProgramThe program was established in 2005 to honor the legacy of Lisa Fittko, a lifetime social justice activist. Lisa is widely known for her courage in leading Jews and members of the anti-Hitler resistance from Nazi-occupied France to neutral Spain during World War II. Lisa later settled in Chicago where she was involved in numerous social justice organizations and movements. The internship has been established by friends of Lisa Fittko with the intention of giving a young person the opportunity to gain knowledge of the social justice arena.Internship Focus:The Lisa Fittko Intern will be based in the Program Department specifically but with opportunities to get hands on experiences with the Development and Communication Departments. It provides the intern with opportunities to engage with grassroots organizations working on racial, social and economic justice issues in Chicago. The Lisa Fittko Intern will be supervised by the Program Director.Internships responsibilities include but not limited to: • The intern will assist with updating and enhancing Crossroads Fund web presence including content research, blogs and social media.• Assist with all aspects of the grantmaking process, including reviewing proposals, and going on site visits.• Assist with programming for grantees and the general public. • Assist with the communications work of Crossroads Fund through writing newsletter articles. • Work with staff on the various fundraising projects that Crossroads Fund is involved in.Qualifications:Young person, between the ages of 18 – 30; experience and expertise with website content management, excellent writing and communication skills; experience with research; comfort with basic computer programs; ability to work independently; interest in social justice based program development; able to make a commitment to the internship’s full duration; sense of humor. A commitment to social change and progressive politics, and the overall mission of the Crossroads Fund is essential.The commitment of the Lisa Fittko Intern is 20 hours per week, for six months from the date of hire.
