Youth organizing has brought massive changes historicallythe Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), the Chicano Student Movement, the Puerto Rican youth movements and the South African Student’s Organization all were youth driven and youth centered. In Chicago we are witnessing a decline in the number of youth centered non-profit organizations, less support for youth run organization and overall less engagement of youth in issues that affect them by institutions and decision makers.  Ironically, this comes at a time when we are witnessing massive increases in youth marginalization and criminalization. Please join Crossroads Fund for an intergenerational gathering to explore:Current state of youth organizing/movementsYouth movements outside the nonprofit frameworkHow, historically, youth movements self sustained before the nonprofit framework.
